Driving Directions (from A30)
Ruan Lanihorne is at the head of the River Fal at the northern end of the Roseland Peninsular.
Travelling west on the A30, go past the A392/Indai Queens Junction. Past signs for the "Screech Owl Sanctuary" and "Gnome World" (!). 250 yards over the brow of the hill slow down and take the next left. The road curves back on itself. At the T-Junction turn right (away from the A30, do not go underneath the flyover). After a couple of minutes you will come to a cross-roads (A3058), go straight over and after a couple of minutes you enter Grampound Road. Carry straight on through the village. Two/three minutes beyond the village you will come to a dual carriageway (A390). Cross over the slightly staggered junction into the minor lane opposite (start to relax). Carry on past a left turn and one cross roads. About 5mins from the A390 you will come to a second cross-roads, turn left. After a short time the road drops down through a couple of Z-bends to a junction, turn left and go over the river. You have just entered the Roseland!! Tregony is up the hill to your left.
Route One.
Having crossed the river go 50 yards and turn 1st
right along the minor road by the car-park and
river. After @2 miles this will bring you into the western end of Ruan
Lanihorne by the
Church. Keep left, drive past the King's Head pub and continue for 400 yards.
You will pass Peddlars Cottage on the right and The Old
Mill on the left. Over the stream, The Old Forge is the last/only building on the right at the eastern end of the village before the
hill.
Route Two.
Having crossed the river, remain on the A1078 for @3miles until you pass the Roseland
Nurseries and 100-House Hotel. Take the next right (by the free
range eggs for sale) continue for about 1 mile passing the converted
Methodist Chapel on you right, to a 90o left bend by Gonitor Farm. After this the road starts to slope down towards Ruan.
As the hill gets steeper there are three sharp bends (right, left,
right) which bring you into Ruan. Slow down, The Old Forge is the first building
on your left just before the bottom of the hill.
